Cattle Stewardship

Our cattle’s well-being is our number one priority. We ensure humane, low-stress treatment and strive to give our cattle happy lives, safeguarding their health and beef quality. This involves working them slowly on horseback rather than using ATVs or dirt bikes. We also enact strict protocols when handling our cattle to protect against injury.

Ranching is about being good stewards of the life cycle. We give our cattle the absolute best care from conception to processing because we value life and understand cattle’s role in the food system and natural order. Our cattle spend most of their lives in our backyard. We believe the natural forage from our grasslands paired with stored feed provides our cattle with increased levels of nutrients.

During the warmer months, our cattle graze on a combination of range and improved pasture. Their all-natural diet includes Wyoming herbs, forbs, grasses, and wildflowers. In the winter, we move our cattle to an area that does not negatively impact the natural range. We feed them ranch-grown hay and alfalfa because, due to the snow, rooted grass isn’t accessible. We also supplement with minerals to meet our cattle’s dietary needs.

Nutrition is important for three reasons: healthy cattle yield quality beef, healthy cows and heifers give birth to healthy calves, and healthy cattle do not need medical intervention, allowing us to keep to our all-natural program. Plus, quality feed helps our cattle thrive in harsh terrain and weather conditions. We aim to continue developing our nutrition program to include extensive mineral and higher plains of nutrition.

Lazy T Ranch raises cattle with extreme care, emphasizing humane treatment, proper nutrition, and low-stress handling. We understand that healthy animals lead to a healthy environment, and we are committed to ethical ranching practices that align with tradition and innovation
