Ingredients

Ingredients for Rustic Ranch-Style Prime Rib Roast:

  • 1 Lazy T Prime Rib (about 6-8 lbs)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons coarse sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

How to Cook Rustic Ranch-Style Prime Rib Roast:

  1. Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together salt, pepper, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
  3. Rub the olive oil over the entire surface of the prime rib. Then evenly coat it with the spice mixture.
  4. Place the prime rib in a roasting pan, bone-side down. Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  5. Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue roasting for about 2-2.5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (55°C) for medium-rare.
  6. Remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for 20-30 minutes before carving. The residual heat will continue to cook it slightly.
